A network of international removal companies
With its headquarters in Brussels, FIDI was founded in 1950 by the leading European national associations of companies specializing in international removals, among which AFDI (Association Française des Déménageurs Internationaux).
In these days, increasing mobility had been generated by a post-war economy supported by the Marshall plan and it had become indispensable to dispose of a network of reliable professionals to manage the flow of international removals.
With the creation of FIDI, the concept of “agent to agent” was introduced. This meant it was no longer necessary for removal companies to establish themselves abroad, as they could rely on counterparts both at origin and destination.
FIDI’s initial vocation was first and foremost continental with road removals as the main area of business. Over the years, traffic has become transcontinental thanks to the development of sea and air containerization. As a direct result of this, the FIDI network has opened up, with the spreading of associations all over the globe.
The same level of quality in over 100 countries
Today, FIDI represents 600 removal companies, which are all FAIM accredited, in over 100 countries.
This means that when a FIDI member is booked for an international move ; one is absolutely certain to benefit from the same level of quality anywhere around the world, be it in Paris, London, New York, Singapore or Hong Kong, …
To enhance its members’ professional skills, FIDI has set up the FIDI Academy for training purposes. This offers a whole range of diversified services, relying specifically on tailor-made e-learning programs.
FIDI has also dealt with the financial security of transactions between its members, through a Payment Protection Plan that insures customers against any non-payment, that would otherwise disturb the smooth performing of the removal services.
Communication lines are continuously open, thanks to tools such as the FIDI magazine, FIDI Focus, which is regularly sent to key accounts to inform them of updates and achievements in the moving industry.
Proactive in marketing, FIDI also regularly visits a number of international events as well as builds up partnerships with the largest American expatriate international relocation organizations.
FIDI uses networking and benchmarking techniques to ensure the excellence of the top quality performed by its worldwide network.
